About The Grace Trust

In the mid 1960’s Mr John Dallow sold his Manufacturing Business and, because of his Christian Beliefs, wanted to ensure a large proportion of the money he received was used for Charitable purposes (“It is more blessed to give than receive” Acts 20 v35).

To facilitate this, in 1968 he set up a charity which he called The Grace Trust. He immediately starting using the Trust to assist worthy causes both in Britain and further afield. This included supporting children’s education where taught under a Christian ethos, relief of poverty, helping the preaching of the Gospel throughout the world, aiding the ill, elderly and infirm and giving financial support to those providing vital aid at the scenes of Natural Disasters (Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me” Matthew 25 v40”). Those that remember Mr Dallow remember him as a cheerful and generous man and when he died in 1978 he had given away virtually all his money (“God loves a cheerful giver” 2 Corinthians 9 v7).

The current trustees of the Grace Trust are committed to continue and build on his endeavours and in recent years, through the tremendous efforts of a team of volunteer fundraisers, the work of the Grace Trust has continued apace. The Trustees always strive to support causes that would be compatible with Mr Dallow’s Christian beliefs, concerns and principles. They seek to reflect, in some small way, the wonderful giving, compassion and love of God (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal. John 3 v16).

As the care and the Christian education of children and young persons was always close to Mr Dallow’s heart the Trustees put a special emphasis on this (“Jesus said, Suffer little children, and do not hinder them from coming to me” Matthew 19 v14).  Also, in addition to doing much to support Christian Schools in Britain and the Continent, the Trust has also supported schools in Africa, South America and the Caribbean; enhancing the lives of children living in the most difficult circumstances (The Lord is full of tender compassion. James 5 v11).

The Trustees are always seeking to do more to further the purposes of the Trust and the needs are great. If you would like to make a donation or leave a legacy then this would be much appreciated. We have no paid staff and rely almost entirely on hardworking volunteers, so you can give in the confidence that the maximum benefit is derived from every donation.
